  • indicator potential of aquatic insects (especially chironomids) in present and past environmental changes
  • high-mountain and arctic aquatic ecosystems: alpine lakes, glacier-fed streams
  • bioindication of environmental changes: climate change, eutrophication, acidification
  • taxonomy, biology and ecology of Chironomidae; identification of larvae and pupae

  • 2008. Ph.D. in Ecology, Faculty of Ecology and Environment, Technical University of Zvolen (FEE TUZVO), Slovakia. PhD. thesis: Chironomid taxocenoses (Diptera: Chironomidae) of littoral, inlet and outlet of three alpine lakes of the High Tatra Mts. Supervisor: Prof Peter Bitušík.
