Abstract
Narrow valley of the Hron river represents a traffic corridor on the main motorway R1 connecting the capital city and the central Slovakia region. This part of landscape has high predisposition for the occurence of high level of landscape fragmentation due to a relatively dense network of road and railway infrastructure. Travelling by train or car through this area presents a first onsight to problems occurring in the extensively used/unused fragments of landscape patches, among which the problem of plant species invasion is one of the most important. We have found out that the highest fragmentation occurs in the land use class of grasslands with a lower portion of tree vegetation, which represented 12,41 % of the total area extent of the examined area, while the highest portion of land is used as arable land (36,72 %).
