Abstract
The aim of this work is the analysis of unknown historical map which was drawn in the first half of the 18th century. We discovered the analysed manuscript of the historical map during the archival research in Slovak Mining Archive (Banská Štiavnica). The map is stored in the Maps Archive, fund HKG, Reference Code VI-602.
Historical map represents a unique source of yet unknown and unpublished information about the historical landscape of the southern slopes of Ďumbierske Tatry mountains and adjacent valley of the river Hron. Mainly considering its horizontal structure and transformations. On the map the relief is shown by hatching, watercourses, bridges, main roads and also arable land (parallel lines). There are also the towns and villages of those days drawn and named on the map, including churches. The iron smelters are shown too. The map also contains a number of terrain names and the other country elements. There is also the artificial lake (tajch) near Hronec displayed there. The mines in Ďumbierske Tatry mountains are drawn on the map and named in the map legend.
Historical maps are some of the oldest, though relatively easily available historical image documents depicting the landscape. The maps bring the landscape structure during the given period of their formation.
