PROF. STEPAN STOYKO: IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY SCIENTIST, UNIVERSITY TEACHER, PROMOTER OF ECOLOGY, ENVIRONMENTALISTIC, NATURE CONSERVATION AND FORESTRY SCIENCES - On the 95^th anniversary of Professor Stepan Stoyko birth

Stepan Mykhajlovych Stoyko is a leading scientist of the Institute of Ecology of Carpathians of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Doctor Honoris Causa. Scientific activity of Professor S. M. Stoyko is closely related to the regions of the Carpathians, Roztochchya and partly – Western Podillya. Main scientific directions are: Forest Geobotany, Forest Types Classification, Forest Ecology, Biogeography, Nature Conservation and Protected Areas Management. Scientific achievements have been published in 10 scientific and popular science books (monographs) and 500 other scientific publications from which over 50 published in foreign editions. For the scientific publications published by the group of authors with a general title "Development of scientific principles and practical recommendations of maintainance of biodiversity in the context of sustainable development of Ukraine" in 2005 Stepan Stoyko was awarded with Diploma of Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the area of Science and Technology. Under the supervision of Professor Stoyko 12 PhD dissertations were created.
