Abstract:
The aim of this paper is analysis of geographical literacy of young people in Slova-kia. We focus on defining the term literacy in detail which is a stepping stone to un-derstand the meaning of geographical literacy. Theoretical part of the paper is fur-ther dedicated to the informal learning, its characteristic features, and beneficial ad-vantages. The central part of the paper discusses the analysis of geographical litera-cy in Slovakia. The analysis included in this paper consists of 45 test questions divided into three thematical groups and comprehensive interpretation of previously gained results. This study may be used as a cornerstone for future, detailed examination of the level of geographical literacy in Slovakia.
